Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship. The organizer of the scholarship is Human Resources Research Institute (HRRI). You must review the terms and conditions and confirm your acceptance.

  1. To be eligible for the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship all applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Be a resident of Ontario
    • Enrolled in your graduating year of high school, entering or currently enrolled in the 1st year of a 2-year diploma program, the 2nd year of a 3-year diploma or degree program, or the 3rd year of a 4-year degree program in a college or university in Ontario in a human resources related program (e.g. organizational development, business with a HR focus, etc.)
      OR
      Enrolled in a graduate program in HR – inclusive of a Human Resource Management Certificate at an Ontario College or a graduate degree such as a Masters of Human Resource Management, Masters of Industrial Relations, Masters of Labour Relations, MSc in Management or Masters in Organizational Behavior from an Ontario University
    • Have a minimum 'B' average in your last completed year of study
    • Demonstrate strong communication skills
    • Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities, including volunteer work through a brief 250 words overview of the experiences, the value and lessons learned
    • Be legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation
    • Have submitted a completed application form by Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:59 a.m. EST

    There will be twenty (20) scholarships worth $500 each.
    Finalists may be required to provide proof of grade average.

  2. The Human Resources Research Institute (HRRI) reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, amend (including extending the award application deadline) or cancel the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship program at any time without individual notice, and to decide all questions respecting the awarding of the prizes, and the administration of the terms and conditions of the program.

  3. Applications must be submitted online between Monday, October 6, 2014 and Monday, November 3, 2014, 11:59 a.m. EST. Submissions must be made online.

  4. You may submit your application in English only.

  5. Judging Criteria:
    • Clarity of thought and communication of content
    • Essay structure
    • Demonstrated interest in the HR profession
    • Grammar and spelling

    All final judging decisions will be reviewed and approved by the HRRI. All winners will be notified in early December 2014 by either phone or email, within 5 business days of potential winner selection.

  6. Potential scholarship recipients (and in the case of minors, a parent or legal guardian) will be required to sign a Declaration of Compliance, Publicity and Liability Release before being awarded a prize. The signed declaration will include the recipient's consent to the use of their name, city and province or territory of residence and photograph, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the HRRI in respect of the Scholarship Program. In order to be confirmed a scholarship recipient, potential scholarship recipients must return the signed declaration within 5 business days of receipt of the form. No deferral of the scholarship will be granted to a scholarship recipient; if a winner is not enrolled in a qualifying program or maintaining a B average at the time of the award, they will be disqualified and a new winner will be selected.

  7. By entering this scholarship competition I agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and the decisions of the scholarship competition judges, which records and decisions shall be deemed final, conclusive and binding in all matters.

  8. I certify that all the information provided on this application form and in all the accompanying documents is true, accurate, and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that the provision of false information will render me ineligible for this scholarship.

  9. By submitting this scholarship application, I hereby authorize the HRRI and its colleagues/employees, agents, contractors and those of its affiliates to release any information provided in or relating to my scholarship application to its representatives, the award judges, yconic (parent company of StudentAwards), and their respective representatives who need to know such information for purposes of administering and promoting this scholarship program. The selection committee will use the information only for purposes of evaluating my scholarship application.

  10. I hereby authorize third parties, such as universities, government or community sources to release information required for the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship, yconic, and their respective representatives who need to know such information for purposes of administering the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship. This information may include personal evaluations, verification that student information is correct and transcripts.

  11. I understand and agree that the HRRI/TD Insurance HR Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship will use information gathered in connection with scholarship applications in aggregate and anonymous form to further its understanding of students in general. The aggregate and anonymous information may also be used by the HRPA for any advertising, marketing, publicity, promotion or other commercial or non-commercial purpose. I acknowledge that I have no right of approval, notice, compensation, or consultation with respect to HRPA's use of my Entry.

  12. In the event that I am a scholarship recipient, I grant to HRRI the right to use my name, likeness, city and province of residence, post-secondary program name and any direct quotes made by me in respect to the scholarship program for publicity purposes without further compensation.
